These bellows date back to the 1850-70's and are fully functional
The leather is in great condition
An ideal conversation piece and very rare...
Decorate a country living room with this unusual antique blacksmith’s bellows coffee table. Crafted in France circa 1880, the table stands on three legs. The rustic piece features the original accordion brown leather strapping around the top, a cone shaped iron devise blowing air at one extremity, and the pulling handle at the other end; it is further embellished with decorative nails all around. The coffee table is in excellent condition with a rich tiger oak patina and beautiful patinated leather. A useful piece, but also a true conversation starter!
A bellows is a device constructed to furnish a strong blast of air forcing a stream when the cavity is compressed. It had many applications for blacksmiths shops, in particular blowing on a fire to supply it with air, and made it easier to work on the metal and bend it.
