Matching pair of beautiful statues of French Soldiers on Horses.
Each is 21" high, 13" long, and 7" wide.
These appear to be painted spelter, which is a pewter-like zinc alloy:
The delicacy of spelter - it is fragile - meant that it was often overlooked
and neglected by dealers in antiques in the second half of the twentieth
century. Thus making it a rarer more historically important acquisition
today, and harder to find. http://1930.fr/art-deco-sculptures-bronze-or-spelter.html
Unsigned, similar versions go for up to 600 Euros ($790) EACH at European antique dealers, so this is a bargain! Just imagine what it would cost in the US!
